About
About BookAwardsDB
A database of literary award winners and nominees, organized by award, year, and author.
BookAwardsDB tracks 375 literary awards — 27,777 entries covering 20,232 books — from globally recognized prizes like the Pulitzer, the Booker, the Hugo, and the Newbery Medal to national and regional prizes across the English-speaking world (Miles Franklin, Governor General's Literary Awards, Ned Kelly Award, and more) and genre-specific awards.
Where the data comes from
Award data is compiled from official award-body websites (the Edgar Awards, Carnegie Medal, James Tait Black Prize, Dublin Literary Award, and others), Wikipedia and Wikidata, and Goodreads' Best Books Ever list, then cross-referenced against Open Library for book metadata such as covers, ISBNs, and publication dates. Every entry is traced to a source; records that couldn't be verified against one have been removed.
Known limitations
Coverage varies by award. Major international prizes tend to be comprehensive; smaller regional and genre awards are often sampled rather than exhaustive, since the underlying sources weren't built as dedicated award archives. We're actively working through gaps in major national awards.
